With regard to the question about dogmatic atheists on the internet in the early 90s, I think it’s probably worth noting that the internet was still largely the realm of academic institutions and the like, rather than the melting pot of users we have now.
I’d expect there to be a higher propotion of atheists in amongst this subset of the community, especially if you consider that many were probably computer programmers and the like, i.e. very logical thinkers.
I may be way off base, I’m just thinking out loud and it doesn’t seem like an unreasonable hypothesis to me.
