Ask an Atheist with Sam Mulvey

It's that time again…Please contribute and help keep "Ask an Atheist" up and running!

As we finish our third season on the air —  and our first on commercial radio –  we want to thank all of the fans, both those who listen to us on the radio and those that catch our videos and podcasts online. We’ve not yet been doing this for a year and we’re constantly amazed at how many people actually tune in to “Ask an Atheist.”

We all have friends that are in crappy bands, and as friends, w e to go to their shows to support them, even if we don’t like their music that much. That’s why it’s still astounding to find that people who don’t actually know us actually listen to our show.  Jarring, in fact. And very gratifying.

And to keep the lights on and continue to pay for the air time that makes our show possible, we need to raise approximately a thousand dollars this week. Your donations help pay the couple hundred bucks a week it takes to pay for time on radio and to replace our stolen cameras. We just need one thousand dollars. That’s it. Just one thousand dollars and the next 13 episode season is paid for.

One thousand dollars! That’s even less money that it would take the restore Stephen Baldwin!

Compared to the millions and tens of thousands that NPR and PBS hope to raise with their pledge drives, that’s real small potatoes, but it’s our life blood. And we hope you’ll make a contribution by clicking the “Donate” button on the left of the site.

We’re an all-volunteer cast and crew, who do this every week without pay and all with jobs of our own on top of it, and I’m really proud of the show we all put together. Since June of last year, we’ve produced nearly 40 hours of programming and in our fourth season, we have a lot of big shows planned. We’re going to tackling everything from psychics, Glenn Beck’s moonbat conspiracies, atheist morality, the new age movement and the role that atheists have and would like to play in the political process. We’ll also have a very special episode on May 22nd to celebrate the non-end of days and to begin a brand new countdown!

And to do this, we need your help. When we asked for help to fund our transition to radio, “Ask an Atheist” fans answered in a big way. You contributed big time for our 24 hour BlogTV fundraiser and made our comedy benefit show with Brad Upton a smashing success! We raised enough money for just over a season and change. And we need your help again.

We’re starting to secure advertisers from a handful of wonderful atheist, humanist and freethought organizations, which we’ll announce soon. It’s not yet enough to keep the show sustainable, but it’s a huge step forward for a new show on local radio.

We have a lot of big plans in the works, including a big show coming up in May in time for Jesus’ return. We can’t yet confirm that Jesus will be there, as he’s notoriously bad about cancelling appearances at the last minute. More details will be announced as they solidify.

Even if you can’t make our show, we have a lot of things in the works. We’re in the planning stages of another 24 hour BlogTV event, and an online auction to benefit the fourth season.

If you like the programming we offer and want to see it continue, please consider donating to our show. You can do it via PayPal with the large “Donate” button above and to the left side of our website.  Know that with your contribution, you’re helping to keep one of the only atheist shows on the radio on the air.

Even a few bucks can help. No donation is so small we’ll turn it away.  If you like the programming we’re creating, please make a donation.

Thank you for your continued support!

That’s not all! To sweeten the deal, anyone who donates 50 dollars or more this week will receive a copy of the Bible autographed by the cast and crew of Ask an Atheist!
