Regarding “social customs” and homosexuality: One point that should really be hammered home is that Europe actually exported homophobia long before it supposedly “exported” homosexuality. For example, India recently legalized gay sex. The reason it needed to be legalized is because they inherited a prohibition on it from England. Because so many societies have had rigid gender roles, there’s always been a tension between tradition in most areas and homosexuality. But we have records of missionaries who went to different parts of Africa or Asia or the Americas who write in a horrified way about how there are men behaving… Read more »
