Hoy, Rebecca y Lee charlan sobre el ateísmo en el mundo hispanohablante. Ellos exploran unas razones porque la iglesia católica se fija tanto en la cultura latina desde punto de vista histórica y socio-cultural y sus experiencias personales.

Today Rebecca and Lee discuss atheism in the Spanish-speaking world. They explore some reasons for the tenacious hold of the Catholic Church in Latino culture from historical and socio-cultural perspectives as well through the lenses of their own personal experiences.

Additionally, there is an English-language interview with today’s hosts for those of you who do not also speak Spanish, after the cut:

Aunque soy de ascendencia mexicana, no he tenido que hablar mucho en español (vivo en Denver), y consecuentemente a veces tengo dificultad para conversar con fluidez (excepto acaso en asuntos como ciencia o matemática, que usan mucha jerga inglesa y palabras latinas). Pero podía entender bien este episodio. Estoy muy impresionado con ustedes (claro, me agradaban antes, pero ahora mucho más). Frecuentemente parece que solo hay voces escépticas en las países angloparlantes, donde religión es una cosa tan personal y pluralista. I can’t seem to find a free VTS spanish to english program I can use. So I’ll just wait for the english version of this episode.

I can find loads of free TTS software though.

Oh, well… Subtitles would be fine.

Mil gracias por su programa en español.
Hay mucha gente que no habla en inglés, que es inteligente y observadora, que no vive en fantasías creadas por las organizaciones que controlan los rebaños de gente que no ve, no oye y no quieren dejar de hacerlo.
No existe nada mas importante que la verdad, no importa que sea cruda, no importa que sea dura, si es la verdad.
