Hey guys, I’ve got to point out that as far as I know, Satoshi Tajiri’s parents were not Christian. Less than 1% of Japan’s population is Christian, most of that being foreigners, and I know for a fact that there is a fake Time magazine story on a similar theme (that is, that the creator was sticking it to Christianity in retaliation against his parents by making the game Satanic). Most Japanese are nonbelievers, but Shinto and Buddhism are deeply ingrained in the culture, not unlike the monsters and myths that appear in our culture.

For faith healing parents, at least of the variety in Idaho, the death of a child is not a punishment at all, in fact it’s celebrated since the kid is now in heaven and the parents passed God’s ultimate test and have secured their own place in heaven too.
